Perhaps the Easiest Holiday Gift... We are excited that the Holiday season is upon us, and we will be sharing some gift-giving ideas with you over the next month. Our first suggestion is perhaps the simplest, because everyone loves it: kai fragrance. kai made the cut on Oprah's Favorite Things last year with its newly launched Body Butter. This year kai introduces a new product; the Moonlight Candle. It is a 3-wick soy blend candle with a 100% European cotton wick and a stunning hand-blown glass vase. This large slow-burning fragrance candle will fill the room with the aura of kai for about 110 hours! We just received our Moonlight Candle and love, love it! For those (few) of you who are not familiar with kai, its claim-to-fame is the Perfume Oil which is made from a blend of gardenia and tropical wildflowers. It's a fresh, clean scent that has mass appeal! Click here for a variety of kai products!
New from The Lake & Stars! It's always a fun day when we receive new items from The Lake & Stars! We recently received the 'Antidote' collection, which is a wonderfully fun group of micromesh bras and panties with those signature quirky but cute accents that TLS is known for. The Antidote pieces will be known as the mesh collection with the little feather accents. The navy/black pieces have a small purple feather accent, and the hot pink/tomato pieces have a bright yellow feather detail. The small feather accents are removable, but we suggest that the only time you take them off is when laundering your items. What we particularly love are the hi-waisted panties - so, so flattering! We also love the bralette and the garter belt, because these are the items that come with the little feather detailing. I guess you could say that we love the entire group! You can purchase these new items at our boutique or online here!
Vogue Paris above: a La Perla bra above: a Dior braWe feel like we have been m.i.a. from the blogging world, with only a few posts here and there. It can actually be time-consuming finding something blog-worthy to post, and we have been busy with a bunch of projects here at our boutique! Thank you for your patience. ;-)
Anyhow, we wanted to post a bit of editorial eye-candy featuring Cindy Crawford in the November issue of French Vogue magazine. Thank you to one of our readers who alerted us to the pretty bras in this spread!Trunk Show Follow-Up
Alison of Faire Frou Frou & Yasmine from the Giving Tea
We would like to thank everyone who made our Trunk Show a wonderful success! The goal of the event was not only to shop, but to raise funds for at-risk young girls from Longfellow Elementary School. The wonderful group of women who attended, many from local Giving Tea groups, raised nearly $1,000! According to event organizer Yasmine, the girls we raised money for " are considered "at-risk" and will be steered in a positive direction through etiquette classes and other club activities designed to empower them. We raised money for a surprise end of year event for the girls...a visit to Huntington Gardens to have tea!"A special thank you to the amazing Yasmine Delawari for assisting us with organizing this event. Also, we would like to thank Maria Navales from Undrest for providing the much-coveted panties that were given away with each purchase. We would also like to thank Erin Delawari from Longfellow Elementary, Safia from SAFIA jewelry, Amy Rodrigues for the yummy cupcakes, the ladies of the Pasadena and Sherman Oaks Giving Tea, and everyone who attended! In the Spotlight We thought we would share these images with you. Last night The Lake & Stars Opportunity Trench was featured on Desperate Housewives...the item was purchased at our boutique, and a TLS fan happened to capture the images from the show! Here's Teri Hatcher wearing the Opportunity Trench in the way it was meant to be worn! Notice the pretty blue silk lining in the last pic - it's a pretty piece! For more of The Lake & Stars, click here.
Fleur T - Very Berry Collection The Very Berry collection from Fleur T is the perfect color for this season's lingerie. All of the pieces are made in a decadent blackcurrant color, with purple and cranberry accents. In true Fleur T form, these pieces can easily be worn during the day under clothing or for a special occasion. We know this is going to be another bery (typo and I'm keeping it) popular group - the rich colors are just stunning! Here are pictures of the collection, which really speak for themselves! Click here if you would like to see the complete Fleur T collection.
Keep Me - a new loungewear line! We are proud to introduce Keep Me, a fairly new loungewear line based in Malibu, CA. This company specializes in modal separates, such as tank tops, lounge pants, nighties, and sweaters. We've seen just how popular modal can be, with the customer response to modal products from sheandme...basically modal is a synthetic material that is like a silky soft cotton that feels absolutely amazing. We consider this brand pretty fashion-forward, and it's more like stylish clothing that you would feel comfortable lounging in. It's casual and sophisticated at the same time. Our favorite pieces are the Jenny Nightie (worn as a top) and the Nikki Racer Back Tank - we are taking those items for ourselves, and plan on giving them plenty of use! We hear that the best-selling item is the Anne Marie Tie-Back Nightie. The owners of the company, Ali Kay and Anne des Barres, suggest that you wear Keep Me "when you get home from the office and you cannot wait to change out of your work clothing, when you’re ready to curl up in bed with a good book, to head to the gym or yoga studio, or even to run out for coffee." We couldn't agree more!

Donna Karan coat
Madame V robe
We are finally catching up on a stack of fashion magazines that has been growing by the day. Upon flipping through Bazaar and Vogue, we have been intrigued by the Donna Karan ad campaign, namely because of a beautiful pale pink ostrich feather coat. Yes, we have a thing for ostrich feathers...it's such a fun trim (along with sequins!). In any event, the image reminded us of our favorite Madame V ostrich feather robe that has since sold out. In fact, our last robe in stock went to a very dear reader of ours (yes, Katie we're talking about you!). One significant difference between our Madame V robe and the Donna Karan coat is that the robe cost about $800 and the coat costs $6,200! Both pieces remind us of that gorgeous robe from the film "Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day" - we still want that robe! Since we sold out of the Madame V robes, we haven't been able to find an amazing ostrich trim robe since. In searching the Donna Karan website, we see that intimate apparel is a key component to her work. She believes that a great foundation for building a Spring wardrobe, for example, is a great chemise upon which you can layer. Of course the Donna Karan brand includes its own lingerie label, which most of us have probably bought at one point or another.
Happy Halloween! Yvonne de Carlo (you know her as Lily Munster)
We just wanted to wish you a Happy Halloween! We hope you dress up in a sexy little number! xoxYay! A Bra for Everyone! It's so wonderful to receive a shipment of bras that work for virtually every customer; full-cup, small cup, someone who wants a pretty bra, someone who wants an everyday bra, and someone who wants an affordable bra! What could possibly cover all of these bases? The Timpa Duet collection. Timpa is a Dutch lingerie label that is responsible for creating the Duet group, which features pieces made from a mesh-patterned lace with scalloped lace trim. We just brought in the Full Cup Bra, Padded Demi, and Lace Underwire Bra, which cover bra cups A to E! Also, what we just love about these bras is that they lie smooth and flat against the body like a t-shirt bra, but are actually attractive to look at. Imagine that, a pretty functional t-shirt bra. The price range for the Timpa Duet bras ranges from $34 to $47...we love it! Also, we brought in a matching low-rise thong for those of you who wish to put together a set. We have seen our customers wearing their beige Timpa bras under their white t-shirts and think it's just lovely looking. We can't wait to wear ours!
Thank you to our fellow bloggers! We just wanted to thank our fellow lingerie bloggers for mentioning Faire Frou Frou this week! We love it! Of course anyone who reads this blog must know about these 3 blogs, but if not, check them out!Cadolle - Bustiers & Corsets Numero Magazine. model: Hilary Rhoda by David Vasiljevic Pretty Bustier model Freja Beha (photo credit unknown...please let us know who shot this!)
We found this image online, and it is one of those corset/bustier looks that we would wear/recommend as outerwear. We hate to say it, but we are not fans of the 'wearing a bustier with jeans' look...it's a bit dated. Nonetheless, we do like when an amazing bustier is styled with some chic accessories to make a killer outfit. In fact, one of our next posts will feature a few pieces from the queen of corsetry, Cadolle. We just received a few pieces from Cadolle and can't wait to share them with you! A bustier or corset might not always work as outerwear, but it always works in the bedroom!Undrest - New for Fall We have added most of the Fall/Winter Undrest collection to our online boutique...and these pieces are selling quickly! We are already sold out of several styles, and even Undrest is sold out on select styles as well. In fact, the cashmere collection was sold out before we could share it with you (and cannot be re-ordered at this point). The new Amelie group is made from a french terry cotton...this means that these pieces are much heavier than what we are used to from Undrest. The thicker cotton is almost like a sweatshirt material (but soft cotton on the inside), and quite cozy for chilly nights. The Fall/Winter color palette includes Winter White, Black, Ice (a very pale lavender), Blush (a soft pink), and Slate (dark gray). Undrest now has its Signature group, which features best-selling pieces from the previous seasons. Essentially, it includes the favorite Marissa Chemise, Bralette and panties, as well as the Sofia Robe and Pants. It is only available in black with creme trim this season. The new Josette group is much like the Marissa group, except the lace heart applique is replaced by a lace fan. We just love the Foldover Pant and Chemise! There was also the Cashmere group, which we are sad to say came and went too quickly! There are a few more styles that are not yet online...but we're working on it. We know all of you Undrest-a-holics (yes, a new word has been created to describe those of us with an Undrest addiction) will be happy to see the new pieces!
a few more Undrest cashmere pieces (sold out) Lace & Coco Chanel Coco Chanel by Horst
Chanel black lace, via Conde Nast store
"I consider lace to be one of the prettiest imitations ever made of the fantasy of nature; lace always evokes for me those incomparable designs which the branches and leaves of trees embroider across the sky, and I do not think that any invention of the human spirit could have a more graceful or precise origin." Coco Chanel, April 29, 1939
We found this lovely quote from Coco Chanel, and wanted to share it with you. We figure that if you love luxury lingerie, odds are you appreciate the beauty of fine lace. Also, we simply love Coco Chanel and her influence in fashion as we know it!
Britney Spears & Letters of Marque
photo credit: britney.com (yes, we actually had to visit her site for the first time to find this image!)
The Letters of Marque Kaftan and Triangle Bra featured in the "Womanizer" video
One of our brands is receiving plenty of press - it's Letters of Marque, and their Silk Charmeuse Kaftan is being featured in the new Britney Spears "Womanizer" video (a lot of people have been referring to it as the silk robe that she wears). It looks pretty cute from what we've seen so far, and this piece from the 'Noir' collection is just amazing. It appears to be layered with the Silk Triangle Bra, also from Letters of Marque. Personally, our favorite piece from the 'Noir' group is the Silk Charmeuse T...we love that it's versatile enough to wear as loungewear or outerwear.Look Slim, Look Stylish About a month ago we introduced Spanx to our boutique - women, both curvy and not so curvy, were wanting them. Now that we have them, we can't understand how we went so long without them! Of course we all know about the control top panties and bodysuits, but we wanted to focus this post on their hosiery. The style we're most excited about is the new "Under the Heel" tights. These tights are too darn cute - you can wear them under your heel (as shown), or simply at your ankle like a pair of leggings. We love having the option - though we are loving the under the heel look most. Of course these tights wouldn't be Spanx without the figure-slimming tummy & rear support. Another Fall favorite are the patterned tights, again with the "tight-end" support. We brought in the chevron pattern tights in black - we can't wait until the weather cools down so that we can wear them! It's refreshing to see a product that is just as stylish as it is functional. And speaking of functional, check out the multi-function Reversible Tights. We don't know if this is a new concept or not, but these tights are black on one side and either brown, navy or gray on the other - genius! Do your legs (and tummy & bottom!) a favor and buy them a stylish pair of Spanx today! And just a little insider scoop for you...Spanx is launching its new "Haute Contour" line in early 2009. Basically it's the Spanx technology and shapes with much prettier silhouettes that are worthy of showing (ie: a little lace or satin trim, feminine details). We will tell you more about these items when they hit stores in January 2009.
It's All in the Details In case you haven't noticed, we received our gorgeous shipment of Strumpet & Pink knickers! These panties, which are like pieces of silk artwork, are handmade in the UK in a select number of styles and an unlimited assortment of colors. The designer behind the brand created several styles for Faire Frou Frou, but she took creative license with the colors based loosely upon the look & mood of our boutique. These panties are so delicate and beautiful, and incredibly unique. Where else can you find high-waisted knickers with silk-covered buttons and a matching satin bow at the waist? There is so much beauty in the details of these panties, we dedicated the images in this post to precisely that! For those of you interested in purchasing Strumpet & Pink knickers in a particular color/size, please feel free to contact us! Also, the panties featured in this post are available here.
Lingerie & Photography In today's post we're featuring the photography of Giorgio Z Gatti. Gatti is an Italian-born photographer who made a career in professional photography in Madrid and Milan, and pretty much everywhere in between! He has shot numerous editorial and advertising campaigns, including work with La Perla. We found a few beautiful photos including tasteful lingerie. We had to share!
Lingerie & Editorial Photo by: Ben Hassett for VOGUE Paris (above) Lingerie by Carine Gilson
 (above) Lingerie by Sabbia Rosa
We seem to zero right in on when Carine Gilson lingerie appears in the press! We were pleased to discover an editorial titled "Bijoux" from Vogue Paris featuring a few lingerie looks. The photography of Ben Hassett is featured in this shoot, and he does an incredible job creating images that are soft and feminine. We just happen to have the Carine Gilson bra shown in the first image...you can purchase that here! Letters of Marque - New for Fall We are excited to introduce a new line to our boutique - Letters of Marque (pronounced 'mark'). Founded in 2007, Letters of Marque features romantic 17th-Century inspired loungewear pieces that are woven from fine cotton and silk, and trimmed with leavers lace. The brand currently offers designs in 2 groups; Muse and Noir. For the Muse group, most of the pieces come in a soft cotton voile with English leavers lace trim. For the Noir group, many of the items have French Chantilly lace trim and are made from cotton silk or washed silk charmeuse. What is interesting is that the brand's designer, actress Stacey Dash (she was one of the main girlfriends in the movie & TV show Clueless) was inspired to create this line upon discovering that one of her ancestors was a Dutch pirate. Her pieces evoke the look of an era when European pirates ruled the seas, but the collections are re-interpreted with a fresh, modern touch. The collection is now available to purchase!
Lingerie & Photography Nuits de Satin bustier (above)
This piece (above) reminds us of Lala Rose...maybe it is!
This post is dedicated to the photography of Andy Julia. We love discovering beautiful images from talented photographers, and naturally we have to share when lingerie is involved! The first image (with the white eyelet bustier) includes a piece by French lingerie designer Nuits de Satin. We're not sure if this was for the brand's catalogue or an editorial shot, but either way it's lovely. Our favorite piece is the very couture-looking bra in the 'perfume' photo. What if the Intimate Apparel industry had a resource that indicated how each bra fit, how each brand fits, and how you know if your bra fits? Well, you have the opportunity to make this happen! We are requesting that you VOTE in support of creating InnerBeautyOnline.com. According to its founder, Sarah Daniels,
InnerBeautyOnline.com will be the first resource dedicated to product reviews of intimate apparel (ranging from bras to shapewear to hosiery and beyond). An independent panel of women, in a wide range of sizes, will "road test" a variety of products to provide honest assessments and actual photos.
